JUMPSTART · CAREERS EXPERIENCE · OCTOBER 2026

A thoughtful first
impression.

This concept is designed to help capable early learning educators see themselves at JumpStart, understand the expectations, and take an informed next step. It is a private design review, separate from the live Parent Portal and recruitment system.

The design decisions

DecisionWhy it matters
Warm editorial typography, restrained colourThe actual JumpStart logo anchors the brand. Cream, deep teal and muted terracotta make the page feel welcoming and credible to adult professionals.
Real classroom photographyExisting public JumpStart images provide a concrete sense of the learning environment. No synthetic team, stock employees or invented testimonials.
One primary route: explore rolesCandidates can understand fit before entering a form. Calls to action consistently lead to the role list.
Specific teaching expectationsClear language modelling, purposeful activities, classroom routines and warmth help suitable candidates self-select.
Progressive applicationA three-step preview asks for essentials, relevant qualifications and availability, then shows a review. The fuller assessment follows prequalification.
Transparent hiring journeyThe page shows application → teaching assessment → Google Meet → classroom visit, followed by required final checks.
Honest role statesThe latest substitute posting is paused. Profiles are not described as current openings. Unknown pay, schedules and benefits are not invented.

Refinement: reasons to join

The benefits section now leads with the small-class advantage, followed by mentorship and coaching, professional development, and curriculum and preparation support. A dedicated compensation panel distinguishes pay, eligible wage top-up and role-specific benefits. The substitute card surfaces its source base rate with the paused-intake and reconfirmation labels intact. No class-size numbers, coaching frequency, paid planning entitlement or mentor credentials have been invented.

What is interactive

Role filters, detailed role dialogs, an editable three-step application walkthrough, expandable FAQs, mobile layouts and keyboard navigation. Use “Use sample details” to try the form. Nothing is submitted, uploaded, tracked or stored; entries exist only in memory while the dialog is open.

Content and evidence

Before a public launch

  1. Approve current openings, location ownership, salary or hourly range, wage top-up wording, schedules, benefits and mandatory qualifications for each role.
  2. Confirm that the existing public classroom images are cleared for recruitment reuse; ideally replace the hero with a current, high-resolution educator-and-child photograph. The existing images are 600 × 450, so this design avoids using them as full-screen backgrounds.
  3. Confirm the assessment instructions and accessibility/accommodation route, including how communication is assessed on job-relevant clarity and accurate sound modelling.
  4. Add the approved recruitment privacy notice, retention policy and candidate contact before enabling real submissions.
  5. Connect the approved jobs feed and application endpoint, then remove review-only labels and enable only published openings.

Ready for the next phase

The page is plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript with locally hosted assets and fonts. It can be deployed as a Render static site at the proposed careers.jumpstartlearning.ca address. The current private review is hosted separately; no Render, DNS, portal, applicant record or ATS settings were changed.

At integration, the public page should read only approved job fields through a public-safe service. Applications should pass through a validated server endpoint with abuse protection, private file handling and duplicate handling. Private recruitment records and staff credentials must never be shipped to the browser. Add submission success, retry, closed-job and empty-job states against the real service.

Measure what matters

After launch, measure role-detail views, application starts, step completion and qualified applications per role. Assess quality by downstream assessment and interview progression. Do not place contact information, résumés or assessment responses in analytics events.
